Groovy eats

Coffee, tarts and everything in between

Small shopfront, big output. Everything below comes out of that little teal corner on Kelvin Street.

Specialty coffee

Locally roasted beans from Amplify Coffee Co, pulled properly. Iced lattes, long blacks, iced coffees and mochas when the sun's out. Beans to take home too: 250g for $15, a kilo for $50.

Made in house

The hot chocolate, chai, turmeric and matcha are all made in house, not from a packet. Smoothies get the same treatment.

Treats baked daily

Housemade pastel de nata custard tarts, gluten free chocolate brownie, acid drop cookies, 3 cheese and garlic scones, and a boysenberry, pear and white chocolate loaf when you're lucky.

Groove text orders

In a hurry? Text your order ahead and it'll be waiting on the counter. Breakfast burritos, bagels and sandwiches travel well.

Feeding the whole crew?

Text the order through before you leave the house and skip the wait.

The famous one

Housemade pastel de nata

Housemade custard tarts, $6.50 each, baked in small batches alongside the daily cabinet of brownies, cookies, scones and loaves. One reviewer went as far as calling them the best in the country.

“Breakfast burrito is awesome. Peanutbutter bliss ball is awesome. Chocolate smoothie is bomb! Go! Go now! They now have the BEST pasteche de nata in NZ!”

We stopped here after finishing Invercargill Parkrun. While a small shopfront, they pack in some great atmosphere. During Parkrun, the staff had their music pumping and were standing out on the street encouraging everyone as they ran past. It was busy, but they were able to keep up with demand with ease. We didn't have any of there cakes or slices, but they all looked delicious.

This morning I was looking for a nice coffee to enjoy my 2hs left in Invercargill and luckily I found The Groove Espresso. It's such a well location to enjoy the park after a breakfast. The manager and her team are so warm and welcome. The coffee has just the perfect size and their sandwich just taste amazing. I recommend this place to feel welcome just like at home. Plus If you like great happy music for the rest of the day in your head this is the place! All the best! Let's groove!
